All UK Osteopaths are recognised as Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). This recognition acknowledges osteopaths’ important role in healthcare as degree-educated autonomous practitioners. We are highly trained to assess, diagnose, treat and where necessary refer on patients.
AHPs have a holistic approach to healthcare, focussing first and foremost on improving health and wellbeing. Our ultimate aim is to maximise the potential for individuals to live fulfilled and active lives.
Other Allied Health Professionals include physiotherapists, paramedics, podiatrists, radiographers and speech and language therapists.
All AHPs are regulated either by the HCPC or in the case of osteopaths, by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
